Dream – storyboard
Here is another assignment for my Motion Design class. Two weeks before, the teacher asked us to keep track of our dreams. We then had to design that dream with at least three different characters created with different techniques.
I got inspired by a dream I made after Mother’s Day. For that occasion, my sister (one of the characters I designed) made a little party at her house in France and I wasn’t there. I probably thought about that in my dream because I saw my sister preparing the party and putting on the table a lot of different bowls and plates, all with different patterns! That precise image (close from my frame #7) was the starting point of the following storyboard.

Voici un autre devoir à la maison pour le cours Motion Design (graphisme en mouvement). Deux semaines auparavant l’enseignant nous a demandé de noter nos rêves. Ensuite nous avons du mettre ce rêve en images avec au moins trois différents personnages, créés avec différentes techniques.
Je me suis inspirée d’un rêve fait après la fête des mères. À cette occasion ma soeur (l’un de mes trois personnages) a organisé une petite fête chez elle, en France, mais je n’y étais pas. J’ai probablement pensé à cela dans mon rêve car j’ai vu ma soeur préparer la fête en mettant sur la table plein de bols et assiettes différents, tous avec des motifs différents! Cette image en particulier (ressemblant à ma 7ème vignette) a été le point de départ du storyboard ci-dessous.

“La Nuit Médicis” (The Medicis Night)
When the project of feature film “Vampire Party” (International English title) has been launched, it was named “La Nuit Médicis” (The Medicis Night). The production company made a call for tenders and put various directors in concurrency before making their choice. Michaël Nakache being among the last potential choices, he asked me to storyboard his vision of one of the sequences to put all the chances on his side. Unfortunately, he didn’t got the contract but Vincent Lobelle (co-direction with one of the screen writers, Stephen Cafiero). But my storyboards of that first trial version still exist…

Lorsque le projet de long métrage “Les Dents de la nuit” a été lancé, il s’appellait “Nuit Médicis”. La production a fait un appel d’offres et a mis plusieurs réalisateurs en concurrence avant de faire leur choix. Michaël nakache étant parmi les derniers choix potentiels, il m’a demandé de storyboarder sa vision de l’une des séquences pour mettre toutes les chances de son côté. Malheureusement ce n’est pas lui mais Vincent Lobelle qui a emporté la mise (il est en co-direction avec un des scénaristes, Stephen Cafiero). Mais mes storyboards de cette première version d’essai sont toujours là…

“Kankant”
I drew some frames for sequences of the movie “Kankant” by François Grandjacques. Yes, I didn’t make the full storyboard this time because François has pretty good drawing and photomontage skills, so I only added a complement to his own communication tools. J’ai réalisé quelques vignettes pour des séquences du film “Kankant” de François Grandjacques. Eh oui, pas le film intégral car François se débrouille en dessin et en montage photo, donc je n’ai apporté qu’un complément à ses propres outils de communication. “Nuits Blanches” (Sleepless Nights)
“Nuits Blanches” (Sleepless Nights) is a project of feature film by Michaël Nakache. We did the storyboard of that sequence in 2006, and also the boards in colour (see section “style frames”) so he could promote his movie.

“Chrysalide” (Chrysalis)
After my first collaboration with Qéhie Jasari on “Le Réverbère”, she asked me to participate on her next video clip, “Chrysalide”. It was again for a music of James Delleck. I made this storyboard in 2006.
The imaginary chrysalis was created human size by a crew of set and props designers. My drawings of the chrysalis were inspired by their work.

La Chrysalide fantastique a été créée taille humaine par une équipe de décorateurs accessoiristes. Je me suis inspirée de leur travail dans mes dessins.

“Rencontre avec une étoile” (Meeting with a star)
This project of Michaël Nakache have never been shot but was pretty interesting. The goal was to make a commercial for a film festival in Paris named “Les étoiles de la Presse” (The Press’ Stars) in 2006, where would show some French cinema celebrities. I then had fun trying to draw them. You might also recognize a reference to a science-fiction movie…

Ce projet de Michaël Nakache n’a jamais été tourné mais était pourtant bien intéressant. Le but était de réaliser le spot de pub pour un festival de film parisien “Les étoiles de la presse” en 2006, où figureraient plusieurs célébrités du cinéma français. Je me suis donc amusée à essayer de les dessiner. Vous reconnaitrez peut-être également une référence à un film de science fiction…
“Convivium”
“Convivium” is a 28 minutes movie by Michaël Nakache, released in 2005. Fully storyboarded, I added in that case my drawings to the script, creating a kind of “Bible for the shooting” which the Director, the Cinematographer, the Producer and other technicians had a copy.
If you go to the IMDB page of that movie you might recognize some of the actors, like Mélanie Thierry or Titoff.

For the first time here I drew directly with the tablet, without going by the scanning step and retouch, which took me a lot of time for the movie “La Rixe” (The Brawl).

“Convivium” est un film de 28 min de Michaël Nakache, réalisé en 2005. Storyboardé intégralement, j’ai dans ce cas ajouté mes dessins au scénario, créant une sorte de “Bible de tournage” que le réalisateur, le chef opérateur, la production et autres techniciens avaient en copie.
Si vous consultez la page IMDB de ce film vous reconnaitrez peut-être une grande partie des acteurs, dont Mélanie Thierry et Titoff.

J’ai ici pour la première fois dessiné directement avec tablette graphique, sans passer par l’étape scanner et retouches, qui m’a pris énormément de temps pour le film “La Rixe”.
